MEXICO
This trip was the best one yet. But I’ll probably end up saying that after every single trip. My best friend, Halle, and I had both just gotten out of relationships with boys that we were just certain were “the ones”. So we did the most healing thing we knew to do, go spend time in the ocean with God and with each other. It was an extremely spontaneous trip, but the best ones usually are. It’s pretty funny because we had talked before about how Tulum, Mexico would be a pretty dope honeymoon spot. But we just turned it into a girls trip instead!
We spent a lot of time reading our Bibles and journaling. It was a great reset button for both of us. We needed to realign our lives with God and put complete trust in Him for our futures, and it was really nice to be able to do that in such a beautiful place with such beautiful weather. There was one night there, the second to last night, when we were in the ocean just playing in the waves and the sun started to set and the sky turned the most beautiful periwinkle/blue/purple/pink colors I’ve ever seen. Everyone else had gotten out of the water except for us two. It was such an awe-inspiring moment where we both really felt God’s presence. We swam out to where we couldn’t touch and just floated and stared at the beautiful sky and basked in the wonder and glory.
We did a lot of adventurous stuff too. One of the days we decided to be brave and rent a car and drive 2.5 hours to Chichen Itza to see the ancient mayan ruins! That was such a good day. Not only were the ruins huge and magnificent, but the drive there and back was so cool. We got to see the towns that the locals live in and stop off on the side of the road at fruit stands and shops and we also stopped and just watched some kids playing a pick-up soccer game. I’m not much of a “vacationer” so I don’t like just laying out by the pool at the resort. I like stuff like this. Driving out and interacting with real people with their real culture.
I’m so thankful for this trip and the desire that it re-instilled in me to live life God’s way.
Here’s a video that we made from special moments on the trip!

If you’re ever in Tulum, you MUST try a smoothie bowl from Matcha Mama. So good.
life suggestion: make sure you have at least one friend that will hop on a plane with you on a whim.
